about amy

Amy Kaffka is an art director and creative team leader who builds brand systems that make consumer brands unforgettable. Over 15+ years, she has led design for publishers, national consumer brands, sports, and multi-property restaurant groups, including Food Network Magazine, Chick-fil-A, the Kansas City Royals, and Chef Daniel Boulud.

As Design Director for a multi-property restaurant and hospitality group, Amy leads visual identity across 8 brands and 13 properties. She led major portions of the launch creative for 1587 Prime Steakhouse, including a 200-piece gifted invitation signed by Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce; the launch generated 4,320 media coverage hits and approximately $72.9 million in reported ad-value equivalency in its first 30 days. Teammate Jillian O’Connor calls her “one of the most efficient and imaginative creative minds” she has worked with.

At Food Network Magazine, she was promoted twice in three years, managed three designers, and directed 50+ photoshoots for a publication reaching approximately 12.9 million print readers. When COVID ended printed proofs, she created the digital proofing workflow a team of 30+ still uses.

A self-starter who loves learning, Amy taught herself a new publishing program in two weeks to create Chick-fil-A’s interactive digital magazine. Lindsay Ruddy, Creative Director at VML, saw her learn and execute “more work than most people do in five years.” She has never shied away from getting her hands dirty, even as she has climbed.

Amy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Art from Central College in Pella, Iowa. Her favorite lesson came from a former colleague’s joke: how many designers does it take to screw in a lightbulb? Twenty, because they all do it differently. She has respected the differences within creative teams ever since.

Away from work, Amy loves cooking, reading, hiking, and adventures with her husband, son, and dog.
